Michael Saylor

Michael Saylor is an American entrepreneur, inventor, and CEO of MicroStrategy, a business intelligence and analytics software company. He is also known for his strong advocacy for Bitcoin and his efforts to promote its adoption as a store of value and an investment asset.

Early Life and Career

Saylor was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1965. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he earned degrees in aeronautics and astronautics, as well as in science, technology, and society.

After graduation, Saylor worked for a number of tech companies, including DuPont, Federal Computer Corporation, and Security Pacific National Bank. In 1989, he co-founded MicroStrategy with Sanju Bansal, and the company quickly became a leader in the business intelligence and analytics software market.

Saylor’s Interest in Bitcoin

Saylor first became interested in Bitcoin in 2012, after reading about the cryptocurrency’s potential as a store of value and a means of payment. He initially invested a small amount in Bitcoin, but soon became convinced of its potential as an investment asset.

In 2020, Saylor made headlines when MicroStrategy announced that it had invested $425 million in Bitcoin, making it one of the largest institutional investors in the cryptocurrency. Since then, MicroStrategy has continued to invest in Bitcoin, with Saylor becoming one of the most vocal advocates for the cryptocurrency in the business world.

Saylor’s Advocacy for Bitcoin

Saylor’s advocacy for Bitcoin is based on his belief that the cryptocurrency represents a superior store of value to traditional assets such as gold and real estate. He sees Bitcoin as a hedge against inflation and a way to protect wealth in an uncertain economic environment.

Saylor has also been a vocal critic of fiat currencies, arguing that they are subject to manipulation by governments and central banks, and that their value is ultimately based on trust rather than any intrinsic worth.

In addition to his own investments in Bitcoin, Saylor has also encouraged other businesses and individuals to invest in the cryptocurrency. He has spoken at a number of conferences and events, and has even offered to share MicroStrategy’s investment strategy with other companies interested in investing in Bitcoin.
